What is GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certification?

The Global Organic Textile Standard International Working Group is comprised of four recognized member organizations; OTA (USA), IVN (Germany), Soil Association (UK) and JOCA (Japan). They contribute to GOTS together with international organizations and experts, using their experience in organic agriculture, environmental and socially responsible textile production.

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the most important worldwide processing standard for textiles made from organic fibers. While it sets very high criteria at all stages of the organic textile chain, it also demands compliance with social responsibility requirements.

(GOTS) Standards were developed in order to provide sufficient confidence in the consumer, starting from the harvest of the raw material, from the production with environmental and social responsibility to the labeling, in order to determine the worldwide recognizable requirements in order to guarantee the organic status of textile products.

The inspection and certification of production areas, businesses and traders are provided by independent organizations accredited on the basis of the GOTS monitoring system. This is the assurance of textile products that have received GOTS certificate.

Upon completion of the GOTS certification process, the certified organization must have a license to show that it is included in the GOTS program, to use the standard and to use the GOTS logo on the GOTS products it produces.

The GOTS Public Database is a practical tool for users to search for information about GOTS certified organizations in the supply chain, their location, production areas and GOTS certified products in line with their needs.
